- Upload Information:
- Use our secure portal at canopytax.com to upload all your tax-related documents.
 
- Do not upload pictures of each page individually; instead, upload complete documents such as entire 1099 forms.
 
- If uploading information for more than one tax return, clearly label each file to indicate which tax return the information pertains to.
 
- Our team will create folders to organize your information as we process it.
 
- For new clients, please upload your prior year return
 
 
- Mailing Documents:
- If you prefer to mail your information, please send copies only—do not send original documents as they will not be returned.
 
 
- Schedule a Review Meeting:
- Once your information has been received, call our office at 732-798-4250 or email jalter@alterfinancialgroup.com to arrange a call or Zoom meeting to review your taxes.
 
 
- Summarize Deductions:
- Provide a detailed summary of your deductions (not individual receipts) categorized by type, such as:
- Charitable Contributions

- Childcare Expenses:
- For childcare expenses, include:
- Name of the caregiver/provider
 
- Address
 
- Tax ID

- Foreign Accounts and Property Information:
- Include details for any foreign accounts or property, such as:
- Name of the financial institution or property owner
 
- Account number
 
- Address
 
- Highest account value during the year

- Filing and Personal Information Updates:
- Let us know about any changes in:
- Filing status
 
- Dependents (for new dependents, include their Social Security number and date of birth)
